PROJECT GOAL

The overarching goal for the Arte by Thomas Chan hotel launch was to establish a compelling and cohesive brand identity, crucial for a successful opening despite the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. This involved crafting not just luxurious stationery, but a comprehensive visual language that extended to the website, IPTV, and menus. The aim was to create an immersive experience that transported guests into the hotel’s unique blend of Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo influences. The stationery, as a tangible introduction, needed to set the tone for the entire guest journey, reflecting the hotel's art gallery concept and inviting exploration of its curated narrative, especially during a time when physical experiences were limited.

DESIGN DECISION

To achieve this, meticulous design decisions were made across all platforms. For the stationery, serif and calligraphy fonts established a classical tone, while a vintage key-inspired logo added a thematic touch. Jan van Huysum’s floral paintings and gold ornamental patterns enhanced the luxurious feel. The website utilized parallax effects and interactive elements to bring the hotel’s wallpapers to life, creating an engaging online story. The IPTV was redesigned from scratch to be user-friendly and brand-aligned, deviating from generic templates. Menu designs were tailored to reflect each dining space's unique atmosphere, using photography and layouts that echoed the hotel's thematic rooms. All these elements were crafted to ensure a consistent and high-quality brand experience, even during a period of limited physical interaction.

THE RESULT

The outcome was a resounding triumph, with the Arte by Thomas Chan hotel achieving viral popularity and remarkably high occupancy despite the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. The meticulously crafted brand experience, extending from the luxurious stationery that guests cherished as souvenirs to the engaging website and user-friendly IPTV, significantly contributed to this success. The website's interactive storytelling doubled conversion rates, attracting targeted leads, while the redesigned IPTV boosted in-room dining orders during restaurant lockdowns. The themed menus, aligning with the hotel's opulent ambiance, enhanced the dining experience. Notably, every event held at the hotel was fully booked, a testament to the strong brand presence and the immersive experience created. This comprehensive design approach not only overcame the pandemic's obstacles but also established the hotel as a sought-after destination, proving the power of thoughtful design in driving success and generating buzz.
